Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 builds 26100.8106 and 26200.8106 through the Release Preview Channel to users on version 24H2 and version 25H2. The update, KB5079387, is being delivered in two phases to help control how and when changes reach devices.
In the gradual rollout phase, new features are being delivered to a subset of devices first and then expanded over time. Once released more broadly, the normal rollout phase brings baseline improvement updates to all eligible systems at once.
The gradual rollout introduces several new experiences for the Windows 11 PC. Narrator, the built-in screen reader, can now provide rich descriptions of images on Copilot+ PCs and will work across all Windows 11 machines by opening the Copilot side panel. Users can press Narrator key plus Ctrl plus D to describe a focused image or Narrator key plus Ctrl plus S for a full-screen description, with instant on-device results on Copilot Plus PCs. Smart App Control is now switchable without requiring a clean install, adding flexibility for users who want to enable or disable extra app security.
Updates to the Settings app include a more structured About page with clearer hardware specs and links to related areas, along with a refreshed device information card on Settings Home. Microsoft 365 Family subscribers can now upgrade to other Microsoft 365 plans directly from Settings Accounts, subject to the Suggested content setting. Input settings for pen actions were modernized, allowing users to match the pen tail button behavior to the Copilot key.
Elsewhere, low-level improvements ensure monitors can now report refresh rates above 1,000 Hz, energy-saving sleep states can be used for USB 4 Type-C connected displays, and advanced safety features in File Explorer work more reliably. Printing support now has updated compatibility toward Windows 10 version 1607 / Windows Server 2016 baseline.
The normal rollout brings targeted fixes across various components. Narrator’s Natural Voices experience is more reliable, and ARM64 devices running 64-bit applications in Windows Recovery Environment now see better stability and responsiveness.
Since the gradual rollout still individual feature availability by device and region, those who rely on fully tested stability may prefer to wait for the normal release phase. For now, Microsoft is collecting result data from the first wave before expanding the set of supported devices.
