Key Points:

Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7523 to the Dev and Beta Channels. This build is part of the Windows 11, version 25H2 update and offers the same features to both channels. As a reminder, Microsoft is providing the same builds to both the Dev and Beta Channels, allowing Insiders to switch between channels during this period.

The new build introduces Ask Copilot on the taskbar with Microsoft 365 Copilot, which provides a unified entry point for Microsoft 365 Copilot, agents, and search. This feature is being rolled out gradually to commercial Windows Insider Program customers in the United States who have Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses. Ask Copilot on the taskbar offers one-click access to Copilot, invoke agents, and a streamlined search experience.

In addition to Ask Copilot on the taskbar, the build includes various improvements and fixes. Narrator has been enhanced to provide more control over how information is spoken when navigating UI elements in an app. The Touch Keyboard experience for voice typing has been streamlined, removing the previous full-screen overlay and showing voice typing animations directly on the dictation key.

A new Discover Windows widget has been introduced, which helps users learn about Windows features with short, helpful tips. The widget can be added to the Widgets Board or Lock Screen and provides quick, actionable tips from the Windows Tips website.

The build also includes various fixes, such as improvements to File Explorer search performance, enhanced search reliability, and fixes for issues with OneDrive files and Voice Access. Microsoft is also working on resolving known issues, including problems with Agents on the Taskbar, Xbox full screen experience for PC, and Taskbar & System Tray.

As part of the Windows Insider Program, Microsoft is continually gathering feedback and testing new features and experiences. The company reminds Insiders that features and experiences included in these builds may never be released as they try out different concepts and gather feedback. Microsoft encourages Insiders to provide feedback through the Feedback Hub to help shape the future of Windows.

The release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7523 demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to continuously improving and enhancing the Windows experience. As the company continues to test and refine new features, Insiders can expect to see more updates and improvements in the coming weeks and months.
