How Apps Will Work on Microsoft's First Android Phone
Microsoft announced its very first Android phone called Surface Duo in late 2019, and the company expects to launch this device in the holiday season of this year.
Today, it shared further details about how apps will work on this dual-screen device, while also providing developers with early access to an Android emulator for the Surface Duo to test their apps in advance.
A similar emulator for Surface Neo on Windows 10X will also be released in February, Microsoft says.
On Surface Duo, an Android application will launch on just one screen, so at first the experience will be similar to what we get right now on a typical Android smartphone. However, users can then switch to different modes if they are supported by the app, including double-portrait and double-landscape.
