Microsoft Announces Fix for Windows 10 Version 2004 BSOD on Lenovo PCs
Microsoft has confirmed that certain Lenovo devices could hit a BSOD on Windows 10 version 2004, and the company explains that it’s already working with the PC maker on a fix.
The issue was first discovered in August when Lenovo itself rolled out an advisory to warn its customers they could hit a fatal crash after updating to Windows 10 version 2004.
Microsoft explains that the whole thing happens only on computers where Lenovo Vantage is installed.
“Windows devices that receive July 31, 2020—KB4568831 (OS Build 19041.423) Preview or newer updates restrict how processes can access peripheral component interconnect (PCI) device configuration space under specific conditions. Processes that have to access PCI device configuration space must use officially supported mechanisms,” the company says in an advisory rolled out this week.
