Microsoft Fixes Black Screen Bug in Windows 10 April 2018 Update

This month’s cumulative update that Microsoft released for Windows 10 April 2018 Update finally fixes an issue causing the infamous black screen on computers that are upgraded to the latest version of the operating system.

Microsoft explains in the changelog of cumulative update KB4284835 that the bug was caused by third-party system optimization applications, suggesting it was all just a software compatibility bug.

“Addresses an issue that caused the system to start up to a black screen. This issue occurs because previous updates to the Spring Creators Update were incompatible with specific versions of PC tune-up utilities after installation,” this particular line of the change log reads.
