Microsoft Quietly Releases Outlook Lite for Android
As rumored in the last few weeks, Microsoft has launched a new and lighter email app for Android devices.
Called Outlook Lite, the new email client comes in a 5 MB installer, so it doesn’t take up too much space on the device. Furthermore, it is heavily optimized to run smoothly on devices with 1GB of RAM, and manages to do its job even on 2G networks.
Clearly, Microsoft’s purpose was to bring Outlook to low-end Android devices as well, and with Outlook Lite, the company is making a major step in this direction.
The app works with the most popular email providers, including Outlook, Hotmail, Live, MSN, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Exchange Online. Surprisingly, IMAP support doesn’t seem to be offered, so if you want to set up the app with your company’s email, you may have a difficult time doing it unless it uses one of the services mentioned above.
