- New Windows 11 builds 28020.2075 and 29585.1000 now available for testers.
- Touchpad gets touchpad gestures with automatic scrolling and zoom controls.
- Schools can now upgrade to Windows 11 Pro Education for free.
What is changing
Microsoft released two new builds for testers this week: one for Windows 11 testing (28020.2075) and another for devices with Future Platforms hardware (29585.1000). These include new touchpad gestures that let users scroll forever without lifting fingers or adjust zoom speed. The updates also bring free upgrades to Windows 11 Pro Education for schools—though some WinUI3 apps might not work fully yet.
Important: Insiders on Canary 29500 or Beta channels won’t automatically switch to the new WIP experience yet. Microsoft recommends Dev channel users stick with their current setup for feature continuity for now.
Why it matters
IT admins and educators gain management tools via the free Pro Education upgrade, making bulk device updates easier. Gamers and power users might notice smoother touchpad navigation once the new gestures roll out to all apps.
But changes stay limited for now: features require version 1.8 or 2.0 of the WinAppSDK, which aren’t fully ready. Schools should test builds carefully before final upgrades. Comment below if you’ve tried the new touchpad gestures or education tools!
