What’s New in Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4088782 for Creators Update
Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) is getting its own cumulative update today, and since it’s Patch Tuesday, there’s plenty in terms of security.
Windows 10 cumulative update KB4088782, however, introduces several other notable changes, but the first thing you should notice is a bump to OS version 15063.966.
When it comes to addressing security vulnerabilities, Microsoft says that the patched components and apps are Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, the Windows Kernel, and the Windows Shell.
But this doesn’t stop here. Even though it’s not a security fix per se, this cumulative update removes a restriction that blocked systems not running compatible antivirus software from receiving further patches.
This behavior was introduced in January when Microsoft shipped Meltdown & Spectre patches and a new policy was needed, but KB4088782 finally removes it and makes it possible to install cumulative updates regardless of the runnin… (read more)
