Microsoft announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.5790 to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. This build offers various new features, improvements, and fixes for Insiders. The company is introducing fluid dictation in voice access on Copilot+ PCs, which makes voice-based dictation smoother and smarter by automatically correcting grammar, punctuation, and filler words as users speak.
Another significant update is the expansion of Windows Studio Effects to additional cameras, including USB webcams and laptop rear cameras. This feature, powered by AI, helps users stay professional and look their best across more setups. To access this feature, users can navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras, select their preferred camera, and enable the "Use Windows Studio Effects" toggle.
The build also includes changes and improvements that are being gradually rolled out to the Beta Channel. These changes include the introduction of on-hover actions in File Explorer Home, making it easier for users to manage files. Additionally, the agent in Settings experience is being rolled out to Windows Insiders with their primary display language set to French.
Microsoft has also addressed several issues in this build, including an underlying issue that was causing unexpected lag in various scenarios, an issue with app preview windows in the taskbar becoming misaligned, and an issue with the context menu in File Explorer switching back and forth with each right click.
However, there are still some known issues in this build, including an issue causing some PCs to bugcheck while hibernating, an issue with the Shared section in File Explorer Home being visible even if there is no content to display, and an issue with PIX on Windows being unable to play back GPU captures.
Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel can expect to receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package. Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as Microsoft monitors feedback. Insiders who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out can turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update.
The release of this build is part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to improve and refine the Windows 11 experience for its users. As the company continues to develop and test new features, Insiders can expect to see more updates and improvements in the coming weeks and months.
