Key Points

Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7262 to the Dev and Beta Channels. This build is part of the Windows 11, version 25H2, and includes various new features, improvements, and fixes. One of the notable features is the introduction of HD voices in Narrator and Magnifier, which provide clearer and more natural speech using generative AI. These voices are currently available in English (United States) and can be enabled in the Settings app.

The build also includes math reading in Narrator, which allows users to read mathematical equations in a structured way. This feature is available in Microsoft 365 apps such as Word and can be accessed by turning on Narrator and opening a document containing mathematical equations. Microsoft is continuing to refine this experience and plans to expand it to more scenarios in the future.

In addition to these features, the build includes a streamlined Click to Do context menu, which makes it simpler to locate frequently used actions such as Copy, Save, Share, and Open. The context menu will also automatically pop up when a large image or table appears on the screen, making it quicker and easier to access actions and results.

Other changes and improvements in the build include updates to Image Object Selection, Teaching Tips, and Pens with haptic feedback. Microsoft is also reconfiguring the CFR that supported AI Actions in File Explorer, which may cause a temporary loss of image actions and Copilot summary actions.

The build also includes several fixes, such as issues with mouse and keyboard not working in WinRE / Advanced Startup, and problems with the Task Manager process not stopping correctly after closing. Microsoft is also investigating known issues, including an issue causing the Start menu to not open for some Insiders and an issue where apps aren’t showing in the system tray when they should be.

Overall, this build provides various new features, improvements, and fixes for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels. Microsoft is continuing to refine and expand these features, and Insiders can provide feedback through the Feedback Hub to help shape the future of Windows. As the Dev Channel moves forward to a higher build number, Insiders who want to stay on a more stable build may want to consider switching to the Beta Channel while the opportunity is still available.
