How to Download and Install on PC
Forza Horizon 6 is available on Steam and the Microsoft Store. If you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, you can download it at no extra cost. Make sure you have around 157 GB of free SSD space before you start. An SSD (solid state drive) is required. The game will not run from a standard spinning hard drive.

What Is Forza Horizon 6?
Forza Horizon 6 is the sixth main entry in Playground Games’ open-world racing series. Where previous games sent you to the UK, Australia, and Mexico, this one drops you in Japan. You start as a tourist who has no connections to the Horizon Festival. To earn your place, you work through the Horizon Invitational, collect Wristbands, and rise through the ranks until you reach Horizon Legend status. Forza Horizon 6 is one of the best-reviewed game of 2026 so far, and the Japan setting explains a lot of why. This is a map that rewards attention. Tokyo alone takes time to understand, and the countryside driving is genuinely different from anything the series has done before. The Touge battles are a smart addition. They give the game a race type that feels native to the setting rather than dropped in for variety. The CoLab toolset and the estate building give players who want to create something a place to do it, which is a side of the series that had always been present but never felt this developed. If you were going to point at one area where Playground Games pushed hardest this time, it is the depth of what you can do outside of the main race events.
If you are on Game Pass, this is the easiest recommendation in the library right now. Download it, explore Japan, and see if the Touge events and car culture storylines grab you. If you are buying outright, the Standard Edition at $69.99 gives you the full game. 5 Tips for Your First Hours in Forza Horizon 6
Japan’s map is enormous. These habits will save you time and make the early hours more enjoyable.
Check what is included in your edition before spending credits.
If you bought the Deluxe or Premium edition, your Welcome Pack includes 5 pre-tuned cars and a Car Voucher that lets you claim any car from the Autoshow for free. Do not spend your starting credits on a car you could get from the voucher. Open your Welcome Pack first, pick the Car Voucher wisely, and start your collection before the campaign pushes you into spending.
Drive to discover, not just to win races.
Forza Horizon 6’s Japan map rewards exploration with special Forza Edition cars, rare modified cars to test drive, and Collection Journal entries that unlock story events. If you spend your first hours only doing campaign races, you miss a large part of what makes this map worthwhile. Pick a direction, turn off the GPS occasionally, and see what you find. The map has enough hidden content to keep that interesting for a long time.
Try the Touge events early.
Touge battles are a new race type and they play differently from everything else in the game. The narrow mountain passes punish wide lines and braking errors that would not matter on a normal circuit.
