With that out of the way, you can now dive in to see if this game actually worth your time and money. I just downloaded this game today and I finally made time to play it right after I got some work done at the office and so far I love it. It reminds me a bit of Company of Heroes 3 because both are action RPGs and if you have been following my posts, I absolutely love playing action RPG games on PC, in fact, I would say those are my favorite games to play on PC compared to sports games that I play on my consoles. Anyway, the Three Kingdoms Zhao Yun is an underrated little gem from a Chinese gaming studio known as ETime Studio and I think this game really will take this studio to the next level, as you will see on the official Steam page, the game is so far receiving ‘Mostly Positive’ reviews and I expect this game to get some sequels soon thanks to this successful release.

How is the gameplay like?

The game takes players into the heart of the war torn era at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. In this game, you play as the legendary general Zhao Yun, experiencing his lesser-known youth stories. The game is rich in historical context, offering a deep dive into the cultures and customs of the Three Kingdoms period through its detailed 3D graphics.

You’ll encounter a variety of historical figures from the Three Kingdoms era, each with their own backstories. These interactions contribute to an engaging storyline that chronicles Zhao Yun’s transformation from a young mountain boy to a renowned general feared by everyone.

The game features a real-time combat system which is really neat and I think other gaming companies might copy it, I would it. It allows for dynamic gameplay as you battle making each battle seem different than the last. With a range of weapons, talents, and equipment, you can customize your combat style. One of the unique aspects of the game is its war horse system. This system lets you experience authentic horse-riding battles, adding another layer of strategy and excitement to the gameplay.
