Star Wars Galactic Racer is an arcade combat racing game for PC from Fuse Games, available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. You race landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers through an illegal racing league in the Outer Rim. Slamming rivals off the track is part of the plan, not a penalty.

The campaign works like a roguelike (a game built from repeatable runs where each attempt plays out differently). Every run is a new tour where you choose your route, your events and your upgrades. Lose too often and the run ends, but your credits and some unlocks carry over to the next one.

It launched on October 6, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, published by Secret Mode under license from Lucasfilm. Fuse Games was founded by veterans of Criterion, the studio behind Burnout. On PC it runs on Windows 10, needs an SSD, and works best with a controller.

  • Online races hold up to 12 players, with crossplay between PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
  • It uses Denuvo copy protection, which Steam says allows activation on five PCs.
  • The age rating on the Epic Games Store notes in-game purchases.

$59.99

  • The story campaign as Shade
  • Arcade mode, including podracing
  • Online multiplayer with crossplay
Deluxe Edition
Game plus extras

$79.99

Prices are the US list prices on Steam, with regional prices elsewhere. Bought the standard game and changed your mind? The Deluxe Upgrade sells the same extras separately for $19.99. A Collector’s Edition with a landspeeder model exists, but it is a boxed physical release, not something you can buy on Steam or Epic.

☁️ Your PC is too weak? Cloud gaming is an option.

Star Wars Galactic Racer is on Boosteroid, which runs the game on its own hardware and streams it to you, so the graphics card and the SSD are its problem, not yours. You still buy the game on a PC store, then launch it through the service. Use a wired connection or strong Wi-Fi, because a laggy stream makes it hard to hit a corner at full speed.

What Is Star Wars Galactic Racer?

The game is set just after the fall of the Empire. With the New Republic still rebuilding, gambling and racing take off in the Outer Rim, and crime syndicates start sponsoring pilots in an illegal circuit called the Galactic League.

You play Shade, a masked racer out for revenge who enters the league to take on its reigning champion, Kestar Bool. There are no Jedi and no Force powers here. The story plays out in voiced scenes between races, and Sebulba, the podracer from The Phantom Menace, is one of the familiar faces.

Shade, the player character, wears a scuffed racing helmet and looks out over a blurred desert race town

Shade, the racer you play in the campaign.

On the track it is a combat racer in the style of Burnout. You shunt rivals sideways, slam them into walls for takedowns, and use a boost to close gaps. Each vehicle class handles differently: speeder bikes are fast and need hard braking into corners, while skim speeders reward smooth lines and keeping your momentum.

Two racers on speeder bikes collide side by side in a shower of sparks while another bike chases them across a desert track

Contact is allowed. Shunts and takedowns are how you win positions.

The campaign is built from runs. Each tour is a branching map of events, such as standard races, elimination races, test runs and mystery encounters. You pick your path, spend credits on upgrades, and try to keep your place in the league. Fall out of the top spots too often and the run is over.

Online, the main mode is a six-round tour for up to 12 players. Before each race you bet on where you will finish, and a correct call pays out more credits and rarer parts. The first five rounds are about building the strongest vehicle you can, and the last round decides the winner. A full tour takes about half an hour. Podracers have their own 8-player races, and Arcade mode holds time trials and podracing on Tatooine.

Our Take

🎮 Our Take

Star Wars Galactic Racer is the first big Star Wars racing game in years, and it is made by people who know how to make crashing into each other feel good. The smart move is mixing four vehicle classes on the same tracks, so a race is never just a line of identical speeders. The risky move is the runs-based campaign. It keeps each attempt fresh, but racing fans who want a steady career may find it frustrating to lose a run after a couple of bad races. Podracing is here, but it sits in Arcade and its own online races rather than at the center of the game, which matters if that is the only reason you are buying it. The good news on PC is the spec: an RTX 2060 and 50 GB of SSD space is a fair ask for a new release.

If you enjoy arcade racers with contact and you like the idea of short, replayable runs, buy it, and the standard edition is enough, since Deluxe only adds three vehicles and cosmetics. If you mainly want podracing, watch some Arcade gameplay first to see how much of it there is. If you want realism, a sim racer like Forza Motorsport is a better fit.

System Requirements

These are the requirements published on Steam. An SSD is required, not just recommended, so plan to install it on a solid-state drive rather than an older hard drive.

Tips for Beginners

1

Pick one vehicle class to learn first

Speeder bikes need hard braking into corners, while skim speeders reward smooth lines. Stick with one class until the tracks make sense.

2

Commit to your build

Upgrades last for the whole run or tour. Keep improving the same vehicle rather than switching, so your parts add up.

3

Bet honestly on your finish

In online tours, calling your finishing spot right pays more credits and rarer parts. A safe, accurate bet beats a bold wrong one.

4

Chase the contracts

Side challenges pay for things like airtime, hitting opponents and quick overtakes. Read them before the race starts.

5

Check the comfort settings

If fast camera movement bothers you, the game has camera comfort options, plus adjustable text size and difficulty.

Best Star Wars Galactic Racer Mods to Start With

Star Wars Galactic Racer has no Steam Workshop. Mods come from Nexus Mods, and the first wave is mostly about how the game looks and runs: smoother performance, film-style color presets and a freer photo mode. These four are the most useful to start with.

Performance

A few lines you paste into the game’s Engine.ini settings file to spread the work across all your CPU cores and load shaders ahead of time, which can cut stutter. No mod loader needed, and you undo it by deleting the lines.

Removes the limits on how far the photo mode camera can travel and lets you speed it up, so you can frame wide shots like this one. It runs through UE4SS (a common Unreal Engine mod loader), which you install first.

💡 These are fan-made mods, not official ones. The UE4SS author says the loader is made for offline play and that online use is at your own risk, so remove UE4SS mods before you race online. We left out mods that give extra credits or unlimited league tokens, since they skip the point of the campaign. A game patch can break any mod until its author updates it.
