Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6982 to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. This update includes several new features, improvements, and fixes. One of the notable features is Copy & Search, which allows users to search the text in their clipboard with a single click. When text is copied, a paste gleam appears in the search box, and clicking on it will search for the copied text.
Another feature introduced in this update is Voice Typing, which includes a new setting called "Wait time before acting". This setting allows users to configure the delay before a voice command is executed, providing greater flexibility for users with varying speech patterns. Proactive Memory Diagnostics is also being introduced, which helps improve system reliability by suggesting a quick memory scan if a PC experiences a bugcheck.
In addition to these new features, Microsoft has made several improvements to Settings, including updated Device Cards and a more structured and intuitive About page. The Search function has also been improved, allowing users to scroll through all search results directly in the flyout. Click to Do has been updated with a helpful hint to assist users in discovering powerful actions.
The update also includes several fixes, including issues with Text Actions, Taskbar, Input, File Explorer, and Widgets. Microsoft is also investigating several known issues, including problems with keyboards and other USB devices, the Start menu, and apps not showing in the system tray.
Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package. Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time. Windows Insiders can turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Microsoft reminds Windows Insiders that features and experiences included in these builds may never get released, and some may change over time or be removed.
