Microsoft has announced the expansion of its Edge for Business security connector framework, which aims to make the browser a more integral part of a company’s security strategy. The framework, introduced in April, connects directly with tools for authentication, data loss prevention (DLP), and reporting, allowing customers to secure their browsers using the tools they already trust. With Cybersecurity Awareness Month underway, Microsoft is highlighting the importance of strengthening security measures, particularly when it comes to the browser, which is a critical endpoint for many companies.
The expanded connector availability means that more customers can now use the tools they already rely on to secure their browsers. Symantec Data Loss Prevention, RSA ID Plus, and KnowBe4 SecurityCoach are now generally available, offering features such as data protection, device signal verification, and real-time monitoring of risky browser activities. Additionally, Trellix DLP is available in preview, allowing customers to apply Trellix DLP Endpoint policies to inspect for sensitive content within the Edge for Business browser.
The connectors are easy to deploy and manage through the Edge management service in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Customers can simply select the solution, follow the guided setup, and customize policies to fit their organization’s needs. This means that Edge for Business becomes a seamless extension of a company’s security stack, without requiring additional cost or complexity.
Microsoft has also been named a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Application Streaming and Enterprise Browsers 2025 Vendor Assessment, further solidifying its position in the security and browser market.
