Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26120.4441) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. The new build includes several new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out to Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available.
One of the notable new features is the option to export Recall snapshots to third-party apps and websites. This feature is available to Windows Insiders in the European Economic Area (EEA) and allows users to share their Recall snapshots with trusted apps and websites. The export process is protected by robust security and privacy features, including encryption and Windows Hello authentication.
Another new feature is the bigger clock with seconds in the notification center, which is a highly requested feature from Windows 10. The toggle to turn on this feature is located in Settings > Time & language > Date & time.
The build also includes various changes and improvements to File Explorer, Voice Access, and Windows Share. For example, File Explorer now has dividers between top-level icons, and Voice Access has added support for Chinese and Japanese languages. Windows Share now allows users to share OneDrive cloud file links via other apps.
In addition to new features, the build also includes fixes for several issues, including a crash problem with Recall, a memory leak in File Explorer, and a bug that caused the taskbar to reload due to explorer.exe crashes. Microsoft is also investigating several known issues, including a problem with the Start menu, Xbox Controllers, and Recall export.
Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package. The updates delivered to the Beta Channel are in a format that offers a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. Microsoft is monitoring feedback from Insiders to see how the new features land before pushing them out to everyone in the channel.
