Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26300.7877 (KB5077232) to users in the Dev Channel, offering a mix of new features and gradual improvements. The updates fall into two categories: those being gradually deployed to Insiders who have enabled the toggle for early access via Settings > Windows Update, and updates that will be released to everyone in the Dev Channel.
One of the key refinements focuses on the Settings app. The Device info card on the Settings Home page has been updated to simplify key device specifications and improve consistency across the Settings experience. This consumer-focused update is currently being deployed to Insiders in the United States. Additionally, in Settings > System > About, hardware details are now prominently displayed at the top of the page, and the Device information section consolidates details like graphics and storage in one place, with copy/paste support to make sharing easier.
File Explorer also receives improvements. Right-clicking on executable files (.exe, .bat, .cmd) now displays an “Open” verb that matches the icon of the file’s default app, making the action more visually intuitive.
The taskbar and system tray see performance updates, including smoother animations when hovering over app groups and improved reliability of app icons in the system tray when the taskbar is set to auto-hide. An issue causing File Explorer windows and tabs to unexpectedly jump to the Desktop or Home has also been fixed. Nearby Sharing reliability for larger files has been enhanced as well.
A notable addition is in the Paint app, which is rolling out version 11.2601.391.0 with freeform rotate. This feature allows users to rotate shapes, text, and selections to any angle using an on-screen rotate handle or a custom angle input. The feature is designed to offer more creative control and flexibility during editing.
Microsoft emphasizes that many features are being deployed using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of testers and ramping up over time based on feedback. The desktop watermark in Insider builds is expected, and features tested now may be adjusted or removed before any public release. Localization may also be incomplete in early builds, with improvement intended over time. Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback via the Feedback Hub and to check Flight Hub for build distribution across channels.
