Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 Insider Preview build—version 26120.5722—to the Beta Channel for users participating in the Windows Insider Program. This update is specifically for those using Windows 11, version 24H2, and brings a mix of new features, improvements, and fixes.
One of the major updates in this release involves Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD or Intel® processors. These devices now include a new AI-powered agent in Settings, which helps users find and adjust settings more easily. For example, users can type questions like “how to control my PC by voice” and get guided steps to make the change. The feature currently works only when the system language is set to English.
Additionally, Click to Do (Preview), a productivity tool available on Copilot+ PCs, now offers a new interactive tutorial. This tutorial shows users how to use AI-based features for tasks such as summarizing text or removing image backgrounds. Users can replay the tutorial anytime by selecting the “Start tutorial” option.
Several improvements have also been made to core Windows features:
- The Windows Search box on the taskbar now includes a grid view for images in search results, making it easier to find the right content.
- The lock screen widgets UI has been updated under Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
- The Notification Center now supports secondary monitors, allowing users to access the calendar and clock from any screen.
- In Task Manager, CPU usage metrics have been adjusted to align with industry standards. A new CPU Utility column has been added for compatibility.
Bug fixes included in this build address several user-reported issues, including:
- Problems with the Task View icon visibility in the taskbar.
- Text readability issues with lock screen widgets.
- Fixes for input methods like Microsoft Changjie, Hindi Phonetic, and Marathi Phonetic keyboards.
- Stability issues with the Xbox app and Group Policy Editor.
However, some known issues remain in this build:
- Some users may encounter problems updating due to error code 0x80070005.
- Live Captions may crash when using translation features on Copilot+ PCs.
- Xbox Controllers connected via Bluetooth may cause system crashes (bugcheck), though Microsoft has provided steps to resolve this through Device Manager.
Microsoft also highlighted that not all features in preview will make it to the final release. Some may be changed, removed, or replaced as the company continues to gather feedback from Windows Insiders.
These updates are part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to enhance Windows 11, especially for newer devices like Copilot+ PCs. As testing continues, users are encouraged to submit feedback via the
