ArcheAge Chronicles is an action MMORPG for PC from XLGAMES, available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. You arrive in Auroria as a pioneer with a trading company, explore an open world, and fight through dungeons, raids and story quests. Between fights you farm, craft, build a house and run trade goods across dangerous roads with other players.

The combat is what sets it apart from older MMOs. You aim, dodge, roll, block and parry yourself instead of clicking a target and waiting on cooldowns. Each class has two weapons, and switching between them changes how you fight.

It entered Early Access on November 3, 2026, on Windows only. It needs a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or later, an SSD and an internet connection, and it has full controller support. The story is set 50 years after the original ArcheAge, so newcomers can start fresh.

How to Download ArcheAge Chronicles on Windows

You can buy it on Steam or the Epic Games Store. Pick the store your friends use, then pick the same server they do.

  • Step 1. Install a launcher. Get Steam or the Epic Games Launcher and sign in.
  • Step 2. Open the store page. Go to ArcheAge Chronicles on Steam or ArcheAge Chronicles on Epic.
  • Step 3. Buy the game and accept the XLGAMES license agreement.
  • Step 4. Install it on an SSD. It needs 100 GB of free space.
  • Step 5. Launch it and wait for the first load. The game builds its shaders (graphics files) on the first start.
  • Step 6. Choose your server and create your character.

Choose your server carefully. During Early Access you cannot move a character to another server, and players on different servers cannot group up. The game picks your region from your location, with servers in North America, Europe, Asia and Brazil.

ArcheAge Chronicles Price and Editions

There is one edition. XLGAMES chose a buy-to-play model: you pay once and there is no subscription. The pre-order costume bonus ended at launch.

What Is ArcheAge Chronicles?

ArcheAge Chronicles is set in Auroria, a land the world had forgotten about until pioneers rediscovered it. You arrive as an explorer working for an established trading company. Soon you are caught up in the mystery of a crashed airship, ancient ruins and people who all want something different from you.

Your story starts with a trading company in Auroria.

You do not have to follow a set path. Each region has its own story and quests, but you are free to wander off and explore. The world mixes fighting with a full set of life skills: hunting, gathering, farming, crafting and housing, plus trading with other players.

Trade runs tie the two halves together. You carry goods across the map to sell them, and other players can try to stop you. Fighting off attackers with your guild or company to protect a trade route is one of the core ideas of the game.

A party takes on a boss. Dungeons and raids are built for groups.

There are four classes: Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage. Each one uses two weapons, and you can build a style around close-range melee, ranged attacks or magic. Classes are tied to one gender in Early Access, and XLGAMES says more gender options are on the way.

What Is in ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access?

Early Access means you can play a large part of the game now, but it is not finished. XLGAMES expects Early Access to last about 9 to 12 months, with big and small updates along the way.

In the game today

Three regions of Auroria: Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains. Four classes with two weapons each. Exploration, dungeons, raids, PvP, housing, crafting, trading, and company and guild activities.

Planned for full release

More regions with new stories, a third weapon for every class, more gender options for classes, better combat balance and progression, party channels, and more life skills and community content.

The studio says plans may change based on player feedback, and that it will share a roadmap. Patch notes and server news go out on the Steam news page and the official Discord.

Our Take

🎮 Our Take

ArcheAge Chronicles keeps the best idea from the original ArcheAge, a world where trading, crafting and fighting all feed into each other, and pairs it with combat you actually play with your hands. Dodging, parrying and switching weapons makes fights feel closer to an action RPG than a classic MMO, and trade runs give PvP a reason to exist beyond a scoreboard. The buy-to-play price with no subscription is fair for what is already in. The rough edges are real, though. It is in Early Access, the launch week needed fixes for quests and bosses that would not progress, classes are locked to one gender for now, and the hardware bar is high for an MMO.

If you have a strong PC and a group of friends ready to pick the same server, buy it now: MMOs are at their liveliest early, and the core loop is already there. If your PC sits near the minimum spec, if you want a class and gender combination that is not in yet, or if you would rather wait for a polished game, keep it on your wishlist and check back once the third weapon per class and the new regions arrive.

System Requirements

These are the requirements XLGAMES lists on Steam. Both targets assume upscaling (a feature that renders at a lower resolution and sharpens the image) set to Quality mode, so the minimum spec is a real floor, not a comfortable starting point.

Tips for Beginners

1

Agree on a server first

Characters cannot change servers in Early Access, and different servers cannot group up. Settle it with your friends before anyone makes a character.

2

Let the first launch finish

The first start compiles shaders and can take several minutes. Wait it out instead of closing the game.

3

Try both of your weapons

Every class has two weapons. Switch between them early so you know which one fits each fight.

4

Practice dodging and parrying

Boss attacks hit hard. Learning when to roll away and when to parry matters more than your gear in the first hours.

5

Level in a Peace Channel

Conflict Channels allow player fights. Stay in a Peace Channel while you learn the game, then switch when you want PvP.

ArcheAge Chronicles FAQ

Is ArcheAge Chronicles a sequel to ArcheAge?
It is a new game set in the same world. The story takes place in Auroria about 50 years after the events of the original ArcheAge. You do not need to have played the first game to follow it.
Can you play ArcheAge Chronicles solo?
Yes, for a large part of it. The story quests, exploration and life skills work fine alone. Dungeons and raids are built for groups, so you will want a party for those.
Is PvP forced in ArcheAge Chronicles?
No. The game splits each area into Peace Channels and Conflict Channels. Player fights happen in Conflict Channels, so you can stay in a Peace Channel if you do not want to be attacked.
Can you change servers or play with friends on another server?
Not during Early Access. XLGAMES says characters cannot move to another server, and players on different servers cannot play together. Pick the same server as your friends before you create a character.
Does ArcheAge Chronicles support Steam Family Sharing?
No. XLGAMES turned off Steam Family Sharing for the game to protect accounts and the in-game economy, so every player needs their own copy.
Is ArcheAge Chronicles on PS5, Xbox or Steam Deck?
PlayStation and Xbox store pages exist, but there is no console release date. On PC, Steam lists Windows only, and the game uses kernel-level anti-cheat (XIGNCODE3). XLGAMES has not announced Steam Deck support.
Does ArcheAge Chronicles support mods?
No. It is an online game with kernel-level anti-cheat, and there is no Steam Workshop or Nexus Mods page for it. Using third-party tools risks a ban.
What are the ArcheAge Chronicles system requirements?
The minimum is a 64-bit version of Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, a GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB of video memory, DirectX 12 and 100 GB on an SSD. The recommended spec is Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or RX 7700 XT.
