Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6760 to the Dev Channel. This update brings a range of new features and improvements to Windows 11, including a built-in network speed test that can be accessed from the taskbar. This feature allows users to assess their network performance and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced a new Microsoft 365 Copilot page to the Get Started experience for managed commercial devices, making it easier for users to discover and engage with Microsoft 365 Copilot.

The update also includes improvements to Windows Search and File Explorer. For example, the File Explorer Search Box now has updated placeholder text to raise awareness of the improved Windows Search experience. Furthermore, Microsoft has added new StorageProvider APIs for cloud providers to integrate with File Explorer Home. Developer documentation for these APIs is available on the Microsoft website.

In terms of fixes, Microsoft has addressed several issues, including problems with screen readers, Click to Do, and File Explorer. For instance, the company has fixed an underlying issue that was causing some screen readers to no longer be able to read screen content after the latest flights. Microsoft has also fixed an issue where Click to Do may unexpectedly invoke sometimes when pressing WIN + P.

Other fixes include resolving an issue where the battery icon could get out of sync with the actual charging state and fixing a problem where customized folder settings were not being applied consistently. Microsoft has also fixed an issue where the media controls might not be displayed on the lock screen although media was playing in an app that supports these controls.

The update also includes several known issues, such as problems with Click to Do, Taskbar & System Tray, and Windows Studio Effects. Microsoft is working to resolve these issues and has provided workarounds for some of them. For example, users experiencing issues with Xbox Controllers can resolve the problem by uninstalling the XboxGameControllerDriver.inf driver.

Microsoft reminds Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel that they receive updates based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package. Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as the company monitors feedback. Microsoft encourages Windows Insiders to provide feedback on the new features and improvements to help shape the future of Windows. As the company continues to develop and refine Windows 11, users can expect to see more updates and improvements in the coming weeks and months.
