Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.1362 to the Canary Channel. This build introduces several new features and improvements, including updates to the full screen experience, which is now available on more Windows 11 handheld devices. The full screen experience provides a console-style interface with the Xbox app, making handheld gaming clean and distraction-free. To turn it on, users can go to Settings > Gaming > Full screen experience and set Xbox as their home app.

The build also includes updates to the Click to Do context menu, which has been streamlined to make it simpler to locate what users need. Frequently used actions like Copy, Save, Share, and Open will now be easier to access directly from the context menu. Additionally, the context menu will automatically pop up when a large image or table appears on the screen, making it quicker and easier to access actions and results.

Windows Studio Effects are now available on additional cameras, including USB webcams and laptop rear cameras. This feature helps users stay professional and look their best across more setups. To get started, users can navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras and select their preferred camera from the connected cameras list.

The build also includes improvements to File Explorer, including a new discover dialog in dark mode and updated search box placeholder text to raise awareness of the improved Windows Search experience. Users can now directly add and manage their mobile devices from Settings on their Windows PC by navigating to "Mobile Devices" under the Bluetooth & devices section.

Other updates include the introduction of Virtual Workspaces in Advanced Settings, which allow users to enable or disable virtual environments such as Hyper-V and Windows Sandbox. The build also fixes various issues, including problems with File Explorer, Settings, and the taskbar.

Microsoft has also made some underlying improvements to help address issues with internet connectivity after resuming from disconnected standby. The company has also improved performance when apps query monitors for their full list of supported modes, which should help prevent and reduce stuttering in these scenarios.

The Windows Insider Program Team has reminded users that the builds released to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as the company tries out different concepts and gets feedback.
