StarRupture is a first-person base-building survival game for PC from Creepy Jar, available on Steam. You land on an alien planet, gather resources, and build machines that extract and process materials automatically while you explore, fight, and expand your base.
The threat never stops. The planet cycles through cataclysm events that send waves of alien creatures and environmental hazards at your base. Whatever you have built before a cataclysm hits is what you defend with. That loop of building, automating, and then surviving under pressure drives every session.
StarRupture supports both solo play and online co-op for up to 4 players. It launched on January 6, 2026, in Early Access and runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Creepy Jar, the studio behind Green Hell, is actively developing it with monthly updates and a public roadmap.

How to Download and Install on PC

- Step 2. Click Add to Cart and complete your purchase.
- Step 3. Open your Steam library and click Install.
- Step 4. Install to an SSD. The game requires it and runs noticeably better with faster storage.

What is StarRupture?
StarRupture is a first-person open-world survival game set on a hostile alien planet. You start with nothing and build up from basic resource gathering to a fully automated production system: machines that mine ore, refine materials, generate power, and produce your gear.
The planet is not passive. Alien creatures patrol the world and attack your base. On top of that, periodic cataclysm events hit the environment and send large waves of alien creatures at your base. The cataclysms escalate as your base grows, so the better you build, the harder the threats get.
The game supports both solo play and online co-op for up to 4 players. In co-op, teams can divide tasks: one person builds and manages automation while others explore, gather, and hold off incoming threats. Creepy Jar, the studio behind Green Hell, is developing StarRupture with a public roadmap and active monthly update posts.
Key Gameplay Features
๐Open-World Alien Planet
Explore a large alien world with varied biomes, environmental hazards, and hidden resources. The map is persistent: what you build stays until it is destroyed.
โ๏ธIndustrial Automation
Build machines that extract, refine, and process resources automatically. The further you progress, the more complex your production chains become.
๐๏ธBase Building
Construct and expand your base with modular structures. Place defenses, storage, power systems, and production facilities. Every layout decision affects how well you survive cataclysms.
๐ฅCataclysm Events
The planet cycles through large-scale disaster events that reshape the environment and send alien hordes at your base. These are not random: they escalate in scale as you grow.
๐ฅCo-op for Up to 4 Players
Play solo or team up online with up to 3 friends. Each player can focus on different tasks: building, defending, scouting, or gathering. Solo and co-op share the same world and progression.

๐ฎ Our Take
StarRupture comes from the studio behind Green Hell, so the studio has a proven track record with survival games. What sets it apart from most survival games is the automation layer: the mid-game is not just about staying alive, it is about building systems that work while you focus elsewhere. The cataclysm mechanic prevents the base-building phase from becoming too comfortable, which keeps the game from slowing down the way some survival games do after the early hours.
It is still in Early Access, so content is limited compared to what the full release will offer. If you are on the fence, the Steam page has a roadmap that shows exactly what is planned. Monthly update posts from the developer give a clear picture of how active development is.
๐ฅ๏ธ Why Play on PC?
- Mouse and Keyboard for Base Building: Placing structures, managing automation systems, and aiming in combat all benefit from precise mouse control. The game is built around it.
- PC Exclusive: StarRupture is only available on Windows during Early Access. There are no console versions planned at this stage.
- SSD Performance: The game requires a 45GB SSD installation. Faster storage means faster load times and smoother performance as you move through the open world.
- Steam Co-op: Online co-op runs directly through Steam, making it easy to invite friends and join sessions without extra software.

You explore an open alien world, gather resources, and build industrial systems that extract and process those resources automatically. Between building phases, you defend your base against alien creatures and survive cataclysm events that escalate over time.
Does StarRupture have PvP?
No. StarRupture is co-op only. The multiplayer mode is designed for cooperative play between up to 4 players, not player-vs-player combat.
Is StarRupture beginner-friendly?
