Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6780 to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. This build brings a range of new features, improvements, and fixes to the operating system. The updates are being rolled out in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates, and new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel.
One of the notable updates is the introduction of new experiences in the Settings app on Copilot+ PCs. The Agent in Settings now allows for faster changes by showing an inline agent action for recently modified settings. The Settings Homepage has also been updated to include options to adjust recently modified settings under "Recommended settings." Additionally, the Search function in the Settings app now shows more available results in the search flyout, making it easier to discover and modify settings.
The Drag Tray has also been updated to support multi-file sharing, intelligently surface more relevant apps, and enable seamless file movement to a chosen folder. Furthermore, the Click to Do (Preview) feature has been improved to make it easier to act on what matters, with visual cues that highlight key entities such as emails, tables, and more.
Other updates include the ability to enable Administrator Protection via Windows Security under Account protection, the rollout of the new OneDrive icon in Accounts and Homepages in Settings, and improvements to the Dark Mode experience in Windows 11. The Run dialog has also been updated to support Dark Mode, although this change is currently on a slow rollout.
The build also addresses several issues, including fixes for Click to Do (Preview), Taskbar & System Tray, File Explorer, Start menu, and Search. For example, an issue where launching Click to Do on the primary display via right-edge gesture would result in the swipe visuals appearing on the incorrect display has been fixed. Additionally, an issue where pressing WIN + repeatedly wasn’t cycling through the windows of an app as expected has been resolved.
However, some known issues still exist, such as the temporary disabling of new animations on taskbar previews due to interference with the ability to share a window from its preview. Some Insiders may also experience issues with the Xbox Controller via Bluetooth, which can cause the PC to bugcheck. Microsoft has provided instructions on how to resolve this issue by uninstalling the XboxGameControllerDriver.inf driver.
The release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6780 is part of Microsoft’s efforts to test and refine the operating system before its wider release. Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel can expect to receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package. The updates delivered to the Beta Channel are in a format that offers a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. As Microsoft continues to develop and test new features, Windows Insiders can provide feedback to help shape the future of the operating system.
