Microsoft has announced the launch of Edge for Business, a secure enterprise AI browser designed to meet the needs of organizations. The new browser combines the power of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Graph, and Edge for Business to provide a secure and productive browsing experience. Copilot Mode is a key feature of the new browser, which includes agentic, proactive, and contextual features powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot. This mode can be enabled or disabled by IT teams, allowing organizations to control the level of AI-powered browsing.

The Copilot Mode includes features such as Agent Mode, which streamlines tedious work by automating multi-step workflows, and the Copilot-inspired new tab page, which combines search and chat in one intelligent box. The new tab page also offers quick access to files, calendar, and personalized prompts, keeping everything the workforce needs at their fingertips. Additionally, Daily Briefing provides a curated summary of meetings, tasks, and priorities based on browsing tabs and the graph.

Microsoft has also announced new features that leverage the browser context to make everyday browsing smarter. Multi-tab reasoning allows Copilot to analyze content across up to 30 open tabs and deliver nuanced, context-rich answers without the need to switch back and forth. Copilot can also retrieve pages from the browsing history over the last three months using natural language, and YouTube summarization lets Copilot summarize videos and answer questions about their content.

The company has emphasized the importance of secure AI browsing controls, including Enterprise Data Protection, which ensures that prompts, responses, and files stay within the organization’s tenant, with Microsoft acting solely as a data processor. Copilot Mode is designed to meet organizations where they are, offering an explicit toggle that can be turned on to step into the most advanced AI browsing.

Microsoft has also announced several other features and updates, including watermarking for sensitive files and sites, Protected Clipboard, and cross-platform policies in the Microsoft 365 admin center. These features are designed to provide organizations with more control over their browsing experience and to protect their data.

The company has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Application Streaming and Enterprise Browsers 2025 Vendor Assessment, and is recognized as a premier Zero Trust platform provider. Microsoft’s security technologies are integrated into Edge for Business, providing world-class security to every layer of the browser stack.

Organizations can start exploring Edge for Business today, with Copilot Mode available in the Edge management service. Other features are in private preview, with public preview planned for February across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
