Key Points
Microsoft is adding several AI features to Edge for Business, including agentic browsing in limited preview and a Copilot-inspired new tab page. IT admins can request access to the limited preview. These features target business users who want AI help at work without sacrificing security.
- Agentic browsing lets Copilot complete multi-step tasks on approved sites, with IT controls and user oversight.
- Copilot-inspired new tab page brings calendar, files, and prompts into one dashboard on desktop and mobile.
- Multi-tab reasoning and YouTube summarization are now on mobile too, helping users pull answers from multiple tabs or videos.
What is changing
Edge for Business now offers agentic browsing in limited preview. Copilot can navigate pages, fill in information, and complete workflows on approved sites. IT admins enable it through its own policy and can scope it to specific sites. Users see clear visual indicators when Copilot is active and can pause it at any time. Password or credit card entry requires user input.
A Copilot-inspired new tab page is now generally available on desktop and mobile. It shows calendar events, Microsoft 365 files, and suggested prompts in one view. Multi-tab reasoning and YouTube summarization are also on mobile, letting users compare product specs across tabs or get key takeaways from videos.
Why it matters
This matters most to IT admins and business users who need AI tools but can’t risk data leaks. The features let people save time on repetitive browser tasks while keeping company data protected through Purview policies and tenant controls. Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required, and most features exclude the European Economic Area.
The impact is real but rollout is staged. Agentic browsing is in limited preview and requires an admin request. Shadow AI protections require Microsoft 365 E5 and pay-as-you-go pricing. Organizations can adopt these features gradually without losing control.
Have you tried the agentic browsing preview, or would you wait for broader availability?
