Hood Warfare 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter for PC from Trapstar Games, available on Steam. Two rival gangs fight for control of Chicago across four maps. You build a loadout, pick a side and play short, fast team matches.

The six game modes will feel familiar if you have played Call of Duty. Each one is a classic shooter mode with a new name and a street theme, so Kill Confirmed becomes Chain Snatch and Search and Destroy becomes Destroy The Block. You can play them online or against bots.

It came out on October 8, 2026, for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, with full controller support. It is built in Unreal Engine 5 and follows the first Hood Warfare, which was set in Detroit.

How to Download Hood Warfare 2 on Windows

Hood Warfare 2 is sold only on Steam, and there is just one edition. You need 25 GB of free space, or 30 GB to match the recommended spec.

Step 1. Install Steam. Download it from the Steam website and sign in.
Step 2. Open the store page. Go to Hood Warfare 2 on Steam.
Step 3. Buy the game. Click Add to Cart and finish checkout.
Step 4. Install it. Find it in your library, click Install and pick a drive with enough space.
Step 5. Launch it from your library. Set your audio output device in the settings before your first match.

💡 Cannot join a match? Check the version number in the bottom right corner of the main menu. If Steam has not pulled the latest update, exit Steam fully from its top-left menu and open it again.

What Is Hood Warfare 2?

Hood Warfare 2 is a team shooter about two rival gangs fighting over Chicago. There is no story campaign. Every match is a short online fight on one of four maps: downtown, the suburbs, The Trenches and Chicago Mall.

Fights move from the streets to parking lots and stores.

It plays like a classic Call of Duty multiplayer match. You build a class with a main gun, attachments, perks and equipment, then respawn and fight until the round ends. Kills earn killstreaks, and the HUD will look familiar to anyone who has played Modern Warfare.

Chicago Mall takes the fight indoors.

The twist is the setting and the humor. Modes, maps and killstreaks all carry street names and jokes, and the game does not take itself seriously. You level up your reputation by playing, which unlocks more guns and gear over time.

Some maps are tiny, so fights start fast.

For the price of a sandwich, Hood Warfare 2 delivers a working copy of the old Call of Duty multiplayer formula: create-a-class, killstreaks, six familiar modes and maps that look better than you would expect from a tiny team. The studio has also moved fast, adding anti-cheat, voice chat and private matches within the first week. The weak spots are real, though. Some maps are so small that matches turn into spawn fights, there is little to do beyond leveling up, and the humor leans entirely on gang stereotypes. We think plenty of players will find that tasteless, and that is a fair reaction, not oversensitivity.

If you miss classic Call of Duty lobbies, have a group of friends to play with, and the theme does not bother you, it is an easy buy at this price. If you want depth, a story or a shooter that will hold you for months, look at Black Ops 7 or Counter-Strike 2 instead. And if the stereotypes are a problem for you, skip it.

System Requirements

These are the requirements Trapstar Games lists on Steam. A GTX 1660 and 8 GB of RAM are enough to play, which is a low bar for an Unreal Engine 5 game. The recommended spec asks for Windows 11.

Tips for Beginners

Practice against bots first

Set up your own match, pick a map and fill it with bots. It is the fastest way to learn the routes before real players punish your mistakes.

Build a loadout before you queue

Set your gun, attachments, perks and equipment, then save it as a preset so you are not editing between matches.

Grab the chains in Chain Snatch

A kill does not score until you pick up the chain the enemy drops. Collect your teammates’ chains too, so the other gang cannot.

Use push-to-talk

Voice chat is on push-to-talk by default with the T key. Calling out where an enemy is wins more fights than aim alone.

Finish weapon challenges

Attachments unlock through each gun’s challenges. Stick with one weapon for a while to open up its best parts.

Hood Warfare 2 FAQ

Can you play Hood Warfare 2 against bots?

Yes. You can set up your own match, pick the map, mode and settings, and add bots to fill out the teams. It is a good way to learn the maps before you play against real people.

Can you play private matches with friends?

Yes. A launch-week patch added private matches. You create a lobby with a password and share it with your friends, so nobody else can join.

Does Hood Warfare 2 have controller support?

Yes. Steam lists full controller support, so you can play with an Xbox or PlayStation controller as well as a keyboard and mouse.

Is Hood Warfare 2 on PS5 or Xbox?

No. Hood Warfare 2 launched on PC only, through Steam. Trapstar Games had not announced console versions at launch.

Does Hood Warfare 2 have anti-cheat?

Yes. Trapstar Games added an anti-cheat system in a patch during launch week. You can also report a player from the pause menu, and the studio says it bans players it confirms are cheating.
