Key Points:
• Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27813 is now available for the Canary Channel.
• The Location History feature, used by Cortana to access 24 hours of device history, is being removed.
• Some features in the Canary Channel may not be fully localized and may require feedback from Insiders to be finalized.
Hello Windows Insiders, I’m reporting live from the trenches. Today, we’re excited to announce that Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27813 is now available for the Canary Channel. This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that aim to enhance the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
One notable change is the removal of the Location History feature, an API used by Cortana to access 24 hours of device history when location was enabled. With this feature’s removal, location data will no longer be saved locally, and the corresponding settings will be removed from the Settings > Privacy & security > Location page.
In terms of fixes, Insiders will be happy to know that the issue where the color profile list for the selected monitor might not display correctly in Settings > System > Display > Color Management has been resolved.
For Copilot+ PCs specifically, note that if you’re joining the Canary Channel from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel, or retail, you’ll lose Windows Hello pin and biometrics, resulting in errors when trying to sign in. This problem should be resolved by re-creating your PIN by clicking "Set up my PIN."
It’s crucial to remember that builds released to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle. Features included in these builds may never see the light of day in future Windows releases. Some features may change, be removed, or replaced as feedback is gathered and refined.
The team is also working on fixing an issue with the d3d9.dll crash, which causes multiple apps to fail to launch starting with Build 27802 for some Insiders.
In conclusion, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27813 is now available for the Canary Channel, and we’re excited to hear your feedback. Remember, Insiders – some features may change, be removed, or replaced, and some features may show up in future Windows releases. Thanks for your continued feedback, and we’ll be back with more news from the Windows Insiders team!
