How to download and install AutoCAD 2026 on Windows
Download from Autodesk
Open the official download page, sign in, then choose AutoCAD 2026 for Windows.
Run the installer as admin
Right-click the installer → Run as administrator. This avoids many permission issues.
Install, then sign in
Follow the prompts to install. After it opens, sign in to activate your trial or subscription.
If the download method fails, try a different method (Direct download / Browser download) in Autodesk Account.
If your download comes as two files (.EXE + .7Z)
- Keep both files in the same folder.
- Run the .EXE first (it extracts the installer from the .7Z).
- Then run setup from the extracted folder (often under
C:\Autodesk\).

Who it’s for
Architects, engineers, construction teams, and students use it, especially when files need to be precise and easy to share.
AutoCAD vs AutoCAD LT
AutoCAD includes 3D tools and more automation options. AutoCAD LT is more focused on 2D drafting.
