Three customization options exist: “When taskbar is full” (default), “Never” (no scaling), or “Always” (icons stay small permanently). The setting is accessible through Taskbar settings under the “Taskbar behaviors” section.
Another major update is quick machine recovery, introduced as part of the Windows Resiliency Initiative. If a device encounters a widespread boot issue, the feature automatically enters the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), connects to the internet, and applies targeted fixes via Windows Update. Home users can manage this through System > Recovery > Quick machine recovery, while IT administrators may use Intune Settings Catalog UI or RemoteRemediationCSP for enterprise deployments.
Accessibility improvements remain central to the release. Voice Access now allows users to manually add custom words—such as names, terms, or technical jargon—to its dictionary, improving dictation accuracy. The feature supports home users in English, French, German, Spanish, and Chinese, while Japanese language capabilities are still under development. Adaptive Energy Saver, an opt-in feature for battery-powered devices, dynamically activates energy-saving measures based on device load without altering brightness. Adjustments to Windows Share, File Explorer, and Settings include a preview of shared content, visual dividers in context menus, and expanded browser default configuration options, such as linking default browsers to PDF file handling.
The build addresses technical issues, notably enhancing the performance of file extraction from large archives and resolving crashes in Settings when selecting non-English keyboards or changing mouse cursor settings. However, several known problems persist. The Vista boot sound accidentally replaces the standard Windows 11 startup audio in some cases. File Explorer may reset view settings, and extreme graphical glitches can occur during Remote Desktop sessions on Arm64 PCs.
Microsoft reiterated that Canary Channel builds are experimental and may lack stability or localization. Features like Screen Curtain and Adaptive Energy Saver could evolve or be removed based on feedback. Users are encouraged to report issues through Feedback Hub, providing input on accessibility, crash problems, and performance quirks.
Switching from the Canary Channel to other Insider tiers requires a full reinstallation of Windows 11.
