Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6772 to the Dev Channel. One of the key features is the enhancement to Click to Do, which now includes Image Object select and unit conversion capabilities. The Image Object select feature allows users to precisely select objects within images, while the unit conversion feature enables users to quickly access conversions for number + unit combinations displayed on screen.
Another significant update is the expansion of Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security to support peripheral fingerprint sensors. This feature, previously only available on PCs with built-in biometric sensors, now allows Windows 11 PCs, including desktops and Copilot+ PCs, to benefit from the most secure sign-in experience Windows Hello has to offer. Users can plug in a supported ESS fingerprint reader and follow the prompts to enroll.
The build also includes improvements to File Explorer, with a more consistent dark mode experience. The dark mode improvements include key actions like copy, move, and delete dialogs, as well as progress bars and chart views. Additionally, the update fixes various issues, including problems with the taskbar and system tray, File Explorer, and Windows Studio Effects.
The Windows Setup experience has also been updated, allowing users to customize the name of their default user folder during setup. However, local-only commands have been removed, requiring users to complete the setup process with internet and a Microsoft account to ensure their device is set up correctly.
Microsoft has also addressed several known issues, including problems with Click to Do, Lock and login screens, Taskbar & System Tray, and Xbox Controllers. The company is investigating these issues and has provided workarounds for some of them.
