Once you have the downloading out of the way, you can read more about the game and see if it is worth your time. If it’s not obvious already, I am a huge Anime fan, perhaps that is even an understatement, I have been watching Anime and reading Manga for the past 20 years and I am not even slowing down, of course time is not on my side because of work and family obligations but I still watch at least one or two Anime episodes each every and week from whatever Anime I am following, as I type this, I was just watching Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, I am a bit behind, I am on episode 12 titled “Dull Knife”, you can YouTube that episode for clips as it went viral for multiple reasons, let’s just leave it at that. And no, I don’t only watch mainstream Anime, if you want to know more, you can leave a comment!
Anyway, sorry I got a bit distracted, back to this game. I have just installed it less than an hour ago, when it was released in 2022 I was not really a fan of the concept and I am still not even though I have to admit, the game is fun and way deeper than I first thought, the combat system is not complex but the storyline and season episodes that continue to come up offer something new and fun. As we type, season 4 was just released and this time it introduces one of my personal favorite Dragon Ball Characters, the legendary Saiyan himself, Broly! So I guess it was good timing on my part to finally try this game and again, it’s not your typical arena fighting game like the likes of One Piece Burning Blood or where you can play as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks anytime you want throughout the game like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot but this game lets you play as 7 different survivors against 1 raider, let me quickly explain how that works.
- A Survivor is someone who must survive against the raider, and usually it’s 7 survivors vs 1 raider per game.
- A raider is someone who’s job is to hunt and kill/capture all of the survivors and they can get power ups and upgrades from doing different things.
I hope that sort of makes some sense? You will understand once you check out the trailer below and the proper description either way, the game is fun if you are looking for just a cozy game where it’s not too serious. I must remind you all that the game is primarily a multiplayer game so keep that in mind, it does have a practice mode and episodes that are introduced through the tutorial, these last two modes you can play by yourself in single player mode.
- Unique gameplay: Playing as a Raider against seven ordinary citizens offers a fresh take on the Dragon Ball universe, with a focus on stealth, teamwork, and escape for Survivors.
- Exciting transformations: Both Survivors and Raiders can temporarily transform into iconic Z-Fighters, adding a layer of power and strategic depth to the gameplay.
- Replayability: The random nature of maps, objectives, and Raider choices ensures no two matches are the same, keeping things fresh.
- Active development: The developers are actively adding new content and balancing changes, keeping the game evolving.
- Fleshed-out customization: Survivors have a wide range of cosmetic and gameplay-altering options to personalize their experience.
- Steep learning curve: Mastering the different strategies and mechanics for both Survivors and Raiders can take some time, especially for newcomers to the genre.
- Repetitive Raider gameplay: While exciting, the Raider’s core gameplay loop can become repetitive after a while, especially compared to the varied experiences of the Survivors.
- Gacha mechanics: Some aspects of character and skill customization are tied to a gacha system, which can be frustrating for players looking for specific options.
- Balance issues: Ongoing balancing concerns can lead to certain Survivors or Raiders feeling overpowered or underpowered at times.
- Potentially small player base: The game’s niche nature and focus on online multiplayer may lead to longer queue times or difficulty finding matches depending on your region and platform.
Let us know in the comments what you think about this game if you decide to try it, don’t be shy.
