Fields of Mistria is a farming and life sim RPG for PC from NPC Studio, available on Steam.
You take over an overgrown homestead in a small village, then clear it, plant it, and slowly build the farm you want. Between seasons you fish, mine, cook, and get to know the people who live there.
The magic is what separates it from the rest of the genre. You unlock spells that speed up your farm work and help you fight, so the same skill tree feeds both the quiet half of the game and the dungeon half. Watering a field and clearing a mine floor stop feeling like two different games.
The full release, which the developer calls 1.0, arrived on August 5, 2026, exactly two years after the game first went on sale. It runs on Windows 11 and 10, it has a native Linux build, and it supports a controller. It is single-player.

How to Download Fields of Mistria on PC
Steam is the only place to buy it, and the whole install is about 2GB, so this takes minutes. You will need a free Steam account.
- Step 1. Open the Fields of Mistria Steam page and click Add to Cart.

- Step 3. Pay, then open your Library and click Install.
- Step 4. Let Steam finish downloading any update before you launch it.
- Step 5. Plug in a controller if you want one. Support is built in.

Price and Editions
There is one version and one price. Fields of Mistria costs $13.99, and that buys the complete game with no paid add-ons of any kind. NPC Studio said before launch that it would not raise the price for the full release, and it did not.
If you bought it during the two years it was on sale as an unfinished build, you already own everything. The update is free, your old save still works, and any achievements you earned along the way are credited to you automatically.

To be clear, Fields of Mistria is not on any cloud service, so you cannot stream this one. Its requirements are low enough that almost any laptop will run it anyway. But if your machine struggles with bigger games, Boosteroid streams thousands of other titles without an upgrade.
What Is Fields of Mistria?
Fields of Mistria is a pixel art farming and life sim built in the shape of the farm RPGs people played in the late 1990s. The village of Mistria hands you a run-down homestead in exchange for helping the town recover from an earthquake, and strange magic starts leaking into the land at the same time. You clear the plot, plant crops, keep animals, and work through the seasons while the town slowly gets rebuilt around you.
The days are structured the way the genre usually does it. You have a clock, a stamina bar, and more jobs than time. What is unusual is that magic is a full skill line you level like farming or fishing, and it pays off on both sides of the game. Some spells save you a morning of watering, others matter in the mines when something bites back.
The other half is the people. Mistria has more than thirty villagers with their own routines and stories, twelve of whom you can date and marry. Relationships are tracked in hearts, which you raise with conversation and gifts, and the cap was lifted to ten hearts in the full release so the romances can actually finish. Below the town sit the mines: floors of enemies, ore, and gems that fund the nicer farm upgrades.

Marriage and Children
The headline of the full release. Proposals, wedding events and kids are all in the game now, and each spouse brings their own version of family life rather than one shared script.

Twelve villagers can be dated and married, and none of them are locked by gender. You also pick your own pronouns when you make your farmer.

Ancient ruins under the town hold ore, gems and enemies. It is the part of the game that funds everything else, and it gets genuinely dangerous the deeper you push.
Animals and Rare Colors
You raise cows, chickens and more, and you can breed uncommon color variants. Tracking down the rare ones turns into its own long project.
Seasons and Festivals
Each season changes the crops, the quests, the festivals and even what the villagers wear. Thirty-plus residents keep their own schedules across all of it.

- ❌ You want to play on a console, since this is PC only for now

- ❌ You want hard combat, because the mines are a side dish, not the main course
- ❌ You need it in a language other than English, as the translations are still marked beta
🎮 Our Take
Plenty of games have chased Stardew Valley and most of them feel like a checklist of its features. Mistria is the rare one that got the feel right, mostly because the writing and the art are doing real work rather than just filling space. The villagers have opinions, the seasons look genuinely different from each other, and the magic line gives the daily routine somewhere to go instead of just getting faster. Two years in an unfinished state also meant the developer patched around actual player feedback rather than guesses, and it shows.
At $13.99 this is an easy recommendation. The one thing we would say is to let Steam pull the newest version down before you start, because the early builds of the full release had crash bugs that the studio has since fixed. If you have been holding off for marriage and children, that wait is over.
Mods
Fields of Mistria has a real modding scene, meaning fan-made add-ons that change or add things in the game. Most of it lives on Nexus Mods, and almost all of it runs through one tool.

⚠️ Worth knowing before you install mods
A big game update breaks mods, and the 1.0 update was the biggest one yet. If the game throws an error after patching, the tool’s own author says to remove all mods, use Steam’s Verify integrity of game files option, then reinstall them. Some antivirus software also flags the installer by mistake. Mod at your own pace, and consider finishing a first playthrough unmodded.
Known Issues at Launch
Crashes in the first full release build
Version 1.0.0 shipped with crashes tied to loading certain saves, opening the ranching screen with no animals, and one line of Russian dialogue. NPC Studio fixed all of those in 1.0.1 the same day. If the game will not start, check that Steam has finished updating it before anything else.
Stutter on integrated graphics
The developer has said it knows about graphics and performance problems on AMD and Intel integrated chips, meaning the graphics built into the processor rather than a separate card, and that work on it is ongoing. A dedicated card avoids this entirely.
Translations are labeled beta
The seven non-English languages that came with the full release are marked beta by the studio, so expect rough or missing lines until they are finished. English is the complete version.

Talk to everyone, every day
Hearts go up from simple conversation, not just gifts, and they gate the romance and the family content. A daily lap around town costs you a few minutes and pays off for the whole save.
Do not plant every square you own
Watering is what eats your day early on. Plant what you can comfortably tend, then expand once you have better tools and the magic that helps with it.
Go down the mines on rainy days
Rain waters your crops for you. That frees up the morning you would have spent with a watering can, and the mines are where your upgrade money comes from.
Pick your skill perks on purpose
Each skill line hands you a choice as it levels, and some of those perks unlock items you cannot get any other way. Read them before you click rather than taking whichever sounds bigger.
Unlock a mount early
Mistria gets big, and walking between your farm, the town and the mines burns real in-game hours. Getting something to ride buys you back more time than almost any tool upgrade.
