What is Resident Evil Requiem?

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline Resident Evil game. It is set in October 2026, 30 years after the destruction of Raccoon City. Two playable characters share the story: Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. Each brings a completely different feel to how the game plays.

Grace Ashcroft is an FBI analyst sent to investigate the Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother died eight years earlier. Her sections are slow, tense, and built around hiding and avoiding enemies. Enemies hunt her by sound. Puzzles block the way. A relentless pursuer tracks her through the hotel.

Leon Kennedy returns from Resident Evil 4 with the same action-first approach. He tracks a scientist with ties to the original Umbrella Corporation. His sections are faster, with firearms, chainsaws, hatchets, and melee moves. Both characters can be played in first-person or third-person view.

Key Gameplay Features

๐Ÿ‘ฅDual Protagonists

Grace handles stealth and horror. Leon handles action and combat. The game switches between both, keeping the pace from going stale.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธFirst and Third Person

Both characters can be played from either perspective. Switch to first-person for more immersion or third-person for better awareness of your surroundings.

๐ŸŽงSound-Based Enemy AI

In Grace’s sections, enemies respond to sound. Walk slowly, avoid knocking objects, and use noise to lure them away from where you need to go.

โš”๏ธLeon’s Combat

Leon can parry attacks, perform melee combos, and use firearms, chainsaws, and hatchets. Fans of RE4 will recognise the feel immediately.

๐ŸงฉClassic RE Puzzles

Grace’s chapters bring back the puzzle-solving the original RE games were known for: locked rooms, item combinations, and environmental clues.

๐ŸจThe Wrenwood Hotel

The main setting is a decaying hotel with a personal history for Grace. Capcom has described it as one of their most atmospheric locations to date.

๐Ÿค” Is This Game for You?

โœ… You Will Love It If:

  • You enjoy horror games that genuinely build tension
  • You liked Resident Evil 7 or RE4 Remake
  • You want a strong single-player story
  • You enjoy switching between different playstyles

โŒ You Might Not If:

  • You cannot stand tense stealth or jump scares
  • You only want non-stop action with no slow sections
  • You are still on Windows 10 and cannot upgrade
  • You dislike graphic violence and gore

๐ŸŽฎ Our Take

Resident Evil Requiem is one of the strongest entries in the series in years. Grace’s sections deliver the slow, dread-filled tension that made RE7 so effective, while Leon’s chapters give long-time fans the action they expect. Switching between the two keeps the pacing sharp from start to finish.

If you are a fan of the series, this is an easy recommendation. If you are new to Resident Evil, this is also a solid starting point. The story references the past but works well on its own.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Why Play on PC?

  • Higher Framerates: The recommended spec targets 60fps at 1080p. On a capable PC you can push beyond what consoles offer.
  • Graphics Control: Adjust resolution, texture quality, and shadow settings to match your hardware. Useful for both high-end machines and those running at minimum spec.
  • Mouse Aim for Leon: Leon’s shooting gameplay is more precise with a mouse. Lining up headshots and timing parries is faster than a thumbstick.
  • Community Mods: The RE modding community is active on PC. Costume mods, difficulty tweaks, and other community changes arrive on PC first.

5 Tips for Beginners

Knowing how each character plays early on saves a lot of frustration.

1. As Grace, walk. Do not run

Running creates noise and draws enemies to your position. Get into the habit of slow movement in Grace’s sections, especially in open rooms.

2. Learn Leon’s parry timing early

Leon’s parry has a tight timing window. Practise it in early fights when enemies are easier before relying on it in tougher sections.

3. Use the environment, not just your items

Both characters can interact with objects to create distractions or block enemy paths. This saves ammo and healing items for fights you cannot avoid.

4. Read every file you pick up

Resident Evil games hide puzzle solutions and item locations in their written files. Skipping them means missing hints that save you significant backtracking later.

5. Pick one weapon for Leon and upgrade it consistently

Do not spread resources across every weapon. Pick Leon’s primary early and upgrade it across the game. A well-upgraded weapon handles most situations without issues.
