Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5305 Released to Beta Channel
Microsoft announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5305 (KB5055636) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders running Windows 11, version 23H2. This update marks a significant milestone, as it will be the last release for the Beta Channel based on Windows 11, version 23H2. All Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel can expect to upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2 in the near future. The company noted that version 24H2 is currently available as an optional upgrade for Insiders in the Beta Channel.
New Features and Improvements
The update introduces a new profanity filter setting for voice typing, a highly requested feature from customers. When enabled, the filter masks profanity with asterisks; when disabled, it types profanity like regular words. To access this setting, users can open voice typing (Win + H), select the settings icon, and toggle the "Filter profanity" option.
Additionally, administrators now have the ability to allow users to unpin specific pinned apps on the taskbar, preventing them from being repinned during policy refresh cycles. This feature can be enabled using the new PinGeneration option.
Fixes and Resolved Issues
The update addresses several issues, including:
- A File Explorer crash when tapping the View button with touch
- A Windows Spotlight flyout problem that caused it to get stuck above other app windows
- An input issue where changing pages on the touch keyboard’s Symbols section inserted characters into password fields
- A Settings display issue where hovering over cards in System > About didn’t show the correct corner radius
Known Issues and Workarounds
Microsoft acknowledged a new issue where using an Xbox Controller via Bluetooth might cause a PC to bugcheck. The company provided a workaround involving uninstalling the problematic driver through Device Manager.
Reminders for Windows Insiders
The company reminded Beta Channel Insiders that updates are delivered through enablement packages (Build 22635.xxxx) and that many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology. Insiders can choose to receive the latest updates as they become available by toggling the option in Settings > Windows Update. Microsoft emphasized that features in development may change, be removed, or not be fully localized, encouraging feedback through the Feedback Hub.
As the Beta Channel transitions to Windows 11, version 24H2, Microsoft will continue to monitor feedback and refine the update process.
