Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7653 to the Beta Channel. This update brings a range of changes and improvements to the operating system, which are being gradually rolled out to Insiders who have turned on the toggle to receive the latest updates. The visibility of some features depends on whether a domain-joined work or school account is configured on the device.

One of the key changes in this build is the updated design of dialogs in Account Settings, which now use the modern WinUI framework and support dark mode. This change affects the "Add account" and "Change account type" dialogs, providing a more modern and consistent user experience.

Another significant improvement is the instant loading of Copilot prompt suggestions in Click to Do. However, this change is not yet available to Insiders in the European Economic Area (EEA) or China. Additionally, users can now set .webp images as their desktop background in Settings > Personalization > Desktop Background.

The build also addresses several issues that were present in previous versions. For example, a problem with the taskbar autohiding and invoking before interacting with the bottom of the screen has been fixed, as well as an issue that caused the Start menu, notification center, and quick settings to not open on click. Furthermore, a memory leak when opening the Start menu has been resolved, and an issue that caused the Start menu to open on the wrong side of the screen for Arabic and Hebrew users has been fixed.

Other fixes include resolving an issue with Bluetooth device battery level not showing for some Insiders, addressing some unexpected app and game behavior when using the Xbox full screen experience for PC, and fixing a problem with the password icon appearing blank on the login screen. Additionally, issues with Settings crashing when interacting with audio devices, and a problem with the keyboard character repeat delay in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Keyboard have been resolved.

Despite these fixes, there are still some known issues with the build, including some apps behaving unexpectedly when using the Xbox full screen experience for PC, and apps not showing in the system tray when they should be. Microsoft is working on resolving these issues, as well as a problem with secondary monitors not displaying correctly and showing black screens after the latest updates.

The Windows Insider Program Team reminds Insiders that updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package, and many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology. Insiders who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out can turn on the toggle to receive the latest updates as they become available.
