ROB RUN is an online crime sandbox for PC from Kefir, available on Steam. You start fresh out of prison with no cash and work your way up by robbing stores, running from the police and building a hideout. Everyone around you is a real player, including the cops.
The cops are what make it different. Up to 5,000 players share a server, and the police chasing you are people with their own plans, not scripted guards. You can pick a side, form a crime family and fight other clans for control of the map.
It launched in Early Access on November 4, 2026, and it is free to play with in-app purchases. It runs on Windows 10 and 11, needs an internet connection, and is built for mouse and keyboard.

Is ROB RUN Free?
ROB RUN costs nothing to download and play. There are no paid editions or DLC packs; Kefir makes its money from in-app purchases. Kefir also says it does not plan to start charging for the game when it leaves Early Access.
Losing your stuff is part of the game, and so is starting over after each wipe. Keep that in mind before you spend real money on anything inside it.

What Is ROB RUN?
ROB RUN is set in and around Looty Bay, a sunny coastal city ringed by desert. You arrive fresh out of prison with no money and nowhere to live, so your first bed is a room at Lenny’s motel. From there it is up to you how you climb.
Money comes from crime. You rob stores and banks, raid rival hideouts, dig through dumpsters for cash, and launder dirty money so you can spend it. Every minute you carry something worth taking, another player can take it. Die as a criminal and your loot is gone.
The map is split into districts, and clans fight to control them.
Kefir calls its progression the power pyramid, and it has five tiers. You start as a Hobo. Rent a plot and you become a Settlement Resident with your own base. Buy a whole settlement and you are a Settlement Owner who collects taxes from the people living there. A clan that holds a district takes a cut from the owners, and the leader of the clan holding the central Highlands district becomes the Shadow Governor, the one player who taxes every other clan.
Rent a plot and you can build a base, add workbenches and safes, and run businesses.
Bases are more than storage. You can run farms, labs and contraband businesses that earn money while you are out. The other side of the law is open too: you can play as a cop, earn a salary and hunt the robbers. When the server wipes, everyone starts over, and you go again with what you learned.

Our Take
🎮 Our Take
ROB RUN has a strong hook: a crime city where the police are other players. That one choice turns every robbery into a real gamble, because you never know whether the cop around the corner is new or very good. The power pyramid gives the chaos a goal, and the wipe cycle means a newcomer is never months behind. The flip side is that the game lives or dies on balance, and Kefir has already reworked cop gear, respawns and the economy since the playtest. Expect more of that, expect bugs, and expect some sessions where you lose everything to a better-organized group.
If you like extraction shooters or survival games where loss has weight, it costs nothing to try, so try it, ideally with a few friends. If you want a calm game you can drop in and out of, or you dislike kernel anti-cheat, skip it. And since it is free with in-app purchases, hold off on spending until you know you will stick with it past a wipe or two.
System Requirements
ROB RUN looks bright and cartoonish, but it is a big open world full of players. The minimum spec asks for 12 GB of RAM, more than most games at this level, and you need a steady broadband connection since there is no offline mode.

Tips for Beginners
Join a fresh server
New servers open often. On a fresh one, everyone is starting from zero and patrol cops only have pistols.
Scrounge before you rob
Check dumpsters for cash and look for the starter weapons spread around the city before you try a big job.
Plan the route, skip the alarm
Kefir built the cops to be a real threat. Use lockpicks and avoid alarms instead of shooting your way out.
Rent a plot early
Starter land costs documents, not cash. A plot gives you a base, businesses and better deals on contraband.
Find a clan
You can survive alone, but districts, taxes and the top of the pyramid all need a group behind you.
