PEAK is a co-op climbing game for PC from Aggro Crab and Landfall, available on Steam. You play a lost nature scout stranded on a strange island, and the only way out is to climb the mountain in the middle. One slip can end the run.
Your hands are the controls. You grab, pull and haul yourself up every wall, and your stamina decides how far you get. With friends, that turns into pulling each other up ledges, sharing food and laughing when someone falls.
It came out on June 16, 2025, and it is a full release, not Early Access. It runs on Windows 10 and 11, plays solo or with up to four scouts, and has console versions with crossplay from October 22, 2026.

Quick Facts
How to Download PEAK on Windows
Steam is the only PC store that sells it. You need 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and 4 to 6 GB of free space.
- Step 1. Install Steam. Download it from the Steam website and sign in.
- Step 2. Open the store page. Go to PEAK on Steam.
- Step 3. Buy the game. Click Add to Cart and check out.
- Step 4. Install it. Pick a drive with 6 GB free and confirm.
- Step 5. Launch it and head to the airport. The airport is the lobby, where you invite friends and board the plane.
Playing with friends? Each person needs their own copy. Steam Family Sharing is supported. Be careful with stores outside Steam: an app called Peak Game on the Amazon Appstore is a copycat, not the real game.
💡 Your PC is too weak? Cloud gaming is an option. Try Boosteroid.
Price and Platforms
There is one edition and no DLC. Every update has been free, including all the new biomes, and Team PEAK has said The Final Ascent was the last major update.
Crossplay means your Steam crew can play with friends on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2, up to four scouts in total. The PC version stays the only one with mods.
What Is PEAK?
PEAK starts with your scout troop’s plane crashed on a beach. The island has one way off: the mountain at its center. Each biome on the way up is a different kind of climb, from beach cliffs to jungle vines, snowy rock or desert mesas, a lava-filled caldera and the volcano’s core.
Every run starts on the shore, with the island towering over you.
Climbing costs stamina, and hunger, cold, poison and injuries all shrink how much stamina you have. You find food, ropes and tools in luggage scattered across the island, cook at campfires, and decide who gets the last bandage. A friend who passes out can be carried, and the group usually lives or dies together.
The Roots, a redwood forest biome that can swap in for the jungle.
The map changes every 24 hours, so every player gets the same fresh island each day. Updates have added variant biomes that rotate in and out, so the Tropics can become the Roots, the Alpine can become the Mesa, and the Caldera and Kiln can become the Gloom and the Citadel. Harder Ascent levels, badges and cosmetics give experienced crews reasons to keep going.
The Gloom and the Citadel, added in The Final Ascent update.

Our Take
🎮 Our Take
PEAK is the rare co-op game where the main mechanic is helping each other. Climbing with your own two hands feels clumsy at first, then great, and a crew dragging a starving friend up the last wall makes a better story than most scripted moments. The free biome updates added a lot of variety, and with The Final Ascent the game feels finished. The daily map keeps it fresh, but a long run lost to one bad jump can sting.
If you have a small group of friends, buy it. It is cheap, and the console crossplay makes it easier to get everyone together. Solo works and is a good challenge, but it is more fun with people. If you hate losing progress to one mistake, try a Mini Run first.
Why Play PEAK on PC?
- Mods. Only the PC version gets Thunderstore mods, from bigger lobbies to new hats.
- Crossplay with consoles. Playing on PC does not lock you out of friends on PlayStation, Xbox or Switch 2.
- Mouse control. Aiming each grab with a mouse feels precise, and full controller support is there if you prefer a pad.
- Room to grow. Higher frame rates and graphics settings are up to your hardware, not a fixed console target.
System Requirements
These are the specs Team PEAK lists on Steam. Any recent gaming PC runs it, and the download is small. It needs DirectX 12.
The recommended spec asks for 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2060-class graphics card. If the game stutters in co-op, lower the render scale before anything else. If you are shopping for a new machine, our Best Gaming Desktops guide is a good place to start.
Tips for Beginners
Watch your stamina bar
Hunger, cold and injuries shrink it. Eat and heal before a big wall, not halfway up.
Rest on ledges
Stop on flat spots to get stamina back. A rushed climb is how most runs end.
Stop at every campfire
Cook food, roast marshmallows for a morale boost, and the game saves your run there.
Never leave a friend behind
A scout who passes out can be carried. The group goes further together.
Try a Mini Run first
Custom Runs at the airport kiosk let you play one biome or turn down hazards while you learn.
Best PEAK Mods to Start With
PEAK has no Steam Workshop. Mods live on Thunderstore and run through BepInEx, a free mod loader. The easy way in is the free r2modman mod manager: it installs BepInEx for you and keeps mods in a separate profile, so the normal game stays clean. These four are a good start.
💡 These are fan-made mods, not official ones. Some need every player to have them, so check each mod page, and keep mods to lobbies with friends. Everest sends your death location to its own server. A game update can break mods until their authors catch up. To play without mods, launch the game from Steam as normal.
